Latin Name : Gentiana scabra
Chinese Name : Lung dao tsao
Botany : This perennial plant has blue, bell shaped petals and long thin leaves. The roots contain the bitter substances Gentiamarin and Gentin as well as Trisaccharid Gentianose.
Found in: China and Japan and similar species in Europe.

The relevant organs: Liver and gall bladder
Energy : Very cold
Flavour:Very bitter
Effects:In traditional Chinese medicinem, Gentian cools the liver energy, eliminates inner heat, it stops swelling, lowers fever, strengthens the stomach, and eases pain and inflammation in rheumatism.
