Taking your mobile phone to Thailand can sometimes be a good idea but when it comes to making those calls to home or to someone local in Thailand you may find when you return back from your holiday, that you have a very big phone bill.
In Thailand you can buy a sim card for around 10$ which gives you a pay as you go setup. The sim cards are the same as the ones we use here in Europe. It then means that you can buy top-ups from most local supermarkets, 7/11's etc... The calls from a Thailand mobile number are far cheaper, even back to Europe!
You must first check to see if your mobile phone can accept a sim card from another company (and that the phone is sim free).Your local mobile phone shop can tell you this.
Sim card top-ups can be brought for 50Baht, 100Baht, 200Baht, 300Baht and 500Baht they last for a period of 6 months then you lose the credit.
