Chaweng is the largest town and has the longest beach on Samui. There are dozens of hotels and bungalows along Chaweng beach. You can find anything from 5 star luxury to the handful of budget bungalows that remain from Samui's days as a backpackers haven.Accommodation prices are higher then elsewhere on Samui, but Chaweng still has a highest density and widest selection of clubs, bars and restaurants on the island.
Fast food and other big franchise company's are all here including McDonalds, Burger King, Coffee world, Starbucks and even a Hagendasch icecream parlour, but basically they are all here in Chaweng. Big selection of places to eat from the budget right upto the high end top cuisine.
Thai markets selling food and huge range of t-shirts, watches and anything else you would expect to find at a market are dotted all along the streets of Chaweng.
Tour operaters selling boat trips, flights, carhire and excursions around the Island seem to be everywhere. Cybercafes are also popular along the streets of Chaweng.
Petrol can also be brought at most carhire and motorbike rental shops. There are petrol stations on the ring road just outside Chaweng.
The roads along Chaweng stretch get very busy with motorbikes and taxis etc..So we you be extra careful when trying to cross the road.
Chaweng suffers sometimes during heavy rain and you expect floods in parts of the town.As the drainage systems arent equipped to offload the high amounts of rainfall.
The town is genrally clean, can be a certain amount of fumes from the traffic sometimes. It can also get very hot on the streets during the day. But the beach is least 20 to 30metres away from the main street and you do get fresh breezes.
