Yoga means to 'yoke together or to join' and is understood by many people as union with the Divine. Yogis have refined yogic practice through many centuries of devoted effort, their aim being nothing less than a return to the state of grace which most Eastern religions imply that we once enjoyed with God or some kind of heaven world.

Westerners think of yoga as being something only for the body, which is by far the most popular form practiced by them, although actually it is also a more genral term comprising a number of differant methods involving the mind, emotions, and body which can contribute to the health of a human being.They include various spiritual and intellectual practices which are as analytical as the system primarily for the body called 'hatha' yoga. In its most complete form yoga is a fully intergrated system comprising these many differant methods and governing all aspects of life.
